Yesterday was my birthday. I try not to make a big fuss over these things, as I never feel any older in spirit. My body does tend to creak and groan a bit more, but never the spirit. I am now a whopping 33 years old. At least this year I only have to remember one number. I spent the day doing several fun things:
I got my nails done in a bright shade of pink. I love a good pedicure. I swear it is the cheapest form of relaxation I can find. Especially if the shop is slow and the girl give out an extra long foot massage, which is especially prone to happening if you mention it's your birthday. Just sayin'. I had a lovely Bento Box for lunch at a local sushi place, where I don't order sushi since I heave a seriousmental thing against food that has not touched fire. You can tell me all day that sushi is wonderful, bit I just can't. I do however dearly love good tempura, which is what I was after. This was ok, not the best I've ever had, not the worst.
I also spent part of the afternoon spinning, which I would love to show you but I can't until Anneget's her box, as I was finishing up her yarn. It is done, and dry, and just needs to be all wrapped up! It'll be out on Monday, I hope. One day before the deadline. That's me, the Queen of Just Making It!
Dinner consisted of a family favorite. OVOCNE KNEDLIKY are fruit dumplings, we use a recipe that is a mix of this one and this one. It's a simple egg dough, wrapped around an Italian Prune. Then boiled in water for 10 minutes and cut open. Doesn't look like much, huh? Wait until I cut it open! After you cut it open, you add your choice of toppings. Melted butter, dark toasted and buttered breadcrumbs, cinnamon sugar or cottage cheese. I'm a cinnamon sugar, then breadcrumbs, then cinnamon sugar, then butter girl. I also have to have a bite of plum in each one. I leave off the cottage cheese, it's not a huge fave of mine. Then you dig in. We'll be repeating the experience on Sunday for more friends. It's usually a once or twice a year thing, since the Italian Prunes have a short season. Heaven!
After dinner Tyson's mom decided that she'd take the girl home with her, so we are enjoying a baby free weekend. We are actually going out on date tonight. We've sorta forgotten what those are lately. We've also got ants again, so it seemed to be a good time to spray again while the girl isn't here. I hate to spray, but they are all over, and I'm just sick of it.
Tomorrow? I think I'll whip up some new batts!
